This policy explains what HungarySpaGuide.com collects, why, and what you can do about it. It applies to this website only, not to any site you reach through a link here.

Who is responsible for your data
HungarySpaGuide.com is an independent, one-person website. The data controller is Melinda Szokola, operating HungarySpaGuide.com.

What this site collects
The site has no user accounts, no login for visitors and no shop. Comments are switched off, so nothing is collected through a comment form. What follows is everything that does collect data.
Analytics
Google Analytics 4 (property G-BF515Q6V3F), added through the MonsterInsights plugin, records which pages are viewed, how visitors arrive, roughly where in the world they are, and what device they use. Google Analytics 4 uses your IP address to work out approximate location and does not store the address itself.
Analytics only runs after you accept it in the cookie banner. If you decline, it does not load.
Cookie consent
The Complianz plugin stores your cookie choices so the banner does not ask again on every page. This record is necessary for the site to respect your decision.
Newsletter
If you subscribe, your email address is stored by Brevo, which sends the emails. It is used for one thing: telling you when a new guide is published or prices are updated. It is not sold, rented or passed to anyone else.
Every email has an unsubscribe link. You can also ask for removal by email and it will be done.
Push notifications
WonderPush powers browser push notifications. If, and only if, you allow notifications in your browser, it stores a device identifier so messages can reach that browser. Blocking or clearing the permission ends this.
Affiliate links and click tracking
Links on this site marked as affiliate links go to partners such as GetYourGuide. Two things happen when you click one.
The Pretty Links plugin records the click on this site so it is possible to see which recommendations are useful. The partner then sets its own cookie so it can tell that the visit came from here, and pay a commission if you book.
The partner’s cookie is governed by that partner’s privacy policy, not this one. No payment details, booking details or personal data come back to this site — only totals: how many clicks, how many bookings, how much commission.

Sharing buttons
AddToAny provides the share buttons. They load from AddToAny’s servers when a page opens and may set their own cookies.
Feedback surveys
UserFeedback may show an occasional on-site survey. Answering is optional, and answers are stored with the plugin’s provider.
Security, hosting and caching
The site is hosted by Hostinger. As on any web server, requests are written to server logs, which include IP addresses, and are kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.
Wordfence processes IP addresses and request data to block attacks and brute-force login attempts. LiteSpeed Cache stores copies of pages to make the site faster and does not identify you.
Files you did not mean to share
Images uploaded to a website often carry embedded location data. Only site images are uploaded here, but if you ever send a photo by email, be aware it may contain the location where it was taken.
Why we are allowed to do this

Consent can be withdrawn at any time. That does not undo processing that already happened lawfully.

You can change or withdraw your choices at any time through the cookie settings link, or by clearing cookies in your browser.

Who else sees your data
The providers named above — Google, Brevo, WonderPush, AddToAny, Pretty Links, UserFeedback, Wordfence, Hostinger, and affiliate partners — each process a defined part of it in order to provide their service.
Nothing on this site is sold to anyone, and no data is passed to advertisers. There is no advertising on this site.
Some of these providers process data outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, the transfer relies on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or on an adequacy decision.
Your rights
If you are in the EU or the UK, you can ask to:
- see what data is held about you
- correct it if it is wrong
- have it deleted
- restrict or object to how it is used
- receive it in a portable format
- withdraw consent you gave earlier
Write to hello@hungaryspaguide.com and it will be handled. There is no charge, and no account is needed to ask.

Children
This site is written for adults planning travel. Most Hungarian thermal baths have their own minimum age rules. Nothing here is aimed at children, and no data is knowingly collected from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent personal data through this site, write to the address above and it will be deleted.
Changes to this policy
When the site adds or removes a tool that handles data, this page is updated and the date at the top changes. Material changes will also be mentioned in the newsletter.
