How much does a Budapest thermal bath cost in 2026?
A full-day adult ticket at a Budapest thermal bath costs between 3,500 HUF (about €9.50) and 16,000 HUF (about €44) in 2026, depending on the bath and the day of the week. The cheapest option is Dandár, a small neighbourhood bath. The most expensive is Rudas on a public holiday. The two baths most visitors have heard of — Széchenyi and Rudas — sit at the top of the range, at 12,000–16,000 HUF. Weekends cost roughly 1,500–3,000 HUF more than Monday to Thursday at every bath in the city.

Two things this table does not show, because no bath publishes them clearly. First, “peak season” is defined by each bath and announced on its own site, so a holiday weekend can cost more than the Friday rate without warning. Second, Széchenyi and Rudas both sell a more expensive fast-track ticket online, and on a busy summer Saturday the queue is real — the sections below give those prices too.

The 8,000 HUF (~€22) single-zone ticket is the cheapest way into a genuine 16th-century Turkish bath. It is sold on three mornings only, and it does not include the rooftop pool. Lukács is the cheapest of the three baths a visitor is likely to choose between, at roughly half the Széchenyi price, and it is where locals actually go. The senior and student rate of 3,800 HUF is one of the best-value tickets in the city.

Which Budapest baths are closed in 2026?
Gellért Baths has been closed since 1 October 2025 and its own website gives an expected reopening in 2028. The hotel above the baths is a separate project: Mandarin Oriental announced in December 2023 that it will reopen as the Mandarin Oriental Gellert in 2027. The baths themselves are still recommended by a large number of guides and booking pages that have not been updated. Király Baths is closed for an indefinite period, according to the notice on its own site. No reopening date has been announced and no prices are published.
Veli Bej is not in the table above. Its official site was unreachable on the check date, so we have no verified price for it. We would rather leave a gap than copy a figure from a third-party page. It will be added at the next monthly check if the site is back up.

Budapest’s baths have raised prices at the start of the calendar year in recent years. If that pattern holds, the next change to watch for is January 2027, and it will appear here within a month of being published.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are Budapest thermal bath tickets cheaper online?
No. Each bath publishes one price list, and the only online-exclusive ticket on it is the fast track, which is more expensive than the standard ticket — 2,000 HUF more at Széchenyi and 3,000 HUF more at Rudas on a weekday. What you buy online is a shorter queue, not a discount. Night bathing at Rudas is the other online-only ticket, at 15,000 HUF.
Is a locker included in the ticket price?
At Széchenyi the day ticket is sold with a locker and a private cabin costs 1,000 HUF more. At Rudas and Lukács the cabin is a 1,000 HUF extra and a safe for valuables is 1,100 HUF. At Dandár the cabin is 800 HUF and the safe 1,100 HUF. Budget an extra 1,000–2,000 HUF per person if you want a cabin and somewhere to put a phone and a passport.
Which day of the week is cheapest?
Monday to Thursday, at every bath in Budapest. The gap is 1,600 HUF at Széchenyi, 3,000 HUF at Rudas, 1,000 HUF at Lukács and 500 HUF at Dandár. Public holidays are charged at the peak rate, which at Rudas is 4,000 HUF above the Monday price. What else should I budget for?
The baths sell towels and swimwear rather than renting them — Széchenyi’s price page states plainly that rental is currently suspended — and the prices are high. At both Széchenyi and Rudas a towel is 6,900 HUF (~€19), a bathrobe 12,600 HUF (~€34) and swimwear 6,300 HUF (~€17); a swim cap at Széchenyi is 2,100 HUF (~€5.70). All four checked September 2026. Is Gellért Baths open in 2026?
No. Gellért has been closed since 1 October 2025, with an expected reopening in 2028 according to its own site, while the hotel above it is due to reopen as the Mandarin Oriental Gellert in 2027. Király is closed for an indefinite period. Széchenyi, Rudas, Lukács, Dandár and Palatinus are open, and their current prices are in the table at the top of this page.
